Energy in the home

Most homes create more harmful CO2 gas than the average car every year!

Surprising isn't it? How many times have you ever thought about your house being so environmentally unfriendly? Like most people you probably never have. In fact most of the time our houses are not very energy efficient and we don't really think too much about the levels of energy we waste every day. The pie chart shows that in 1999, 10% of emissions of harmful gas came from Scottish homes.

What level of emissions does Scotland generate?
In 1999, emissions in Scotland accounted for 11% of total UK emissions of greenhouse gases. Total Scottish emissions can be broken down further by sector as above.

If your parents or whoever looks after you is interested in saving energy in the home, they can get free, impartial advice on all aspects of energy use in the home by contacting their local Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (EEAC).
